Course description

As a progressive build upon green belt training, the Black Belt Training and Mentoring course teaches selected team leaders how to apply the advanced strategies, methods and tools required to solve persistent, technical performance problems.

The focus of the black belt curriculum is on problems that cannot be solved and projects that cannot be completed with the basic green belt core of knowledge, methods and tools.

Course outcomes

• Students become capable of leading advanced improvement projects, and capable of ensuring their associated financial returns.
• Emphasizes the mindset and skills required to successfully lead change and execute difficult and complex projects.
• Instills comprehensive knowledge of the breakthrough strategy (DMAIC) and its associated concepts, methods and tools.
• Detects and eliminates non-value-added activities, and reduces variation in critical process inputs and outputs.
